Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented global challenges. Amid the crisis, potential impact of exposure on neurodevelopment offspring born to infected mothers emerged as a critical concern. This is prospective cohort study exposed mild or severe during pregnancy. Pregnant women who acquired SARS-CoV-2 were enrolled in SIGNATURE project at Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocio Seville, Spain, between 01/01/2021 and 08/31/2022. Maternal stress was assessed through Perceived Stress Scale; screened Ages & Stages Questionnaire, 3rd Edition (ASQ-3) 6 months 12 months. Association severity neurodevelopmental outcomes analyzed with univariate multivariate analysis. included 689 categorized into three distinct groups based severity: non-infected (N = 277), 358), 54). In utero infection nearly tripled risk developmental concern ASQ-3 personal-social subdomain follow-up [OR 2.751 (95% CI 1.065–7.106), p 0.037], independently timing maternal stress. While this did not yield statistically significant results, it highlights need further investigate association pregnancy understand long-term consequences prenatal exposure.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) belongs to the group of neurodevelopmental disorders, and has a high prevalence, affecting 1 in 100 children according data from World Health Organization (WHO). To be diagnosed with ASD, child must have persistent deficits communication social interactions, restricted repetitive patterns behavior, interests, or activities. Despite its etiology ASD is still uncertain, multifactorial characteristics, including those associated gestational period, where maternal exposure biological, chemical, physical hazards occurs, some which already been proposed as causes outcomes. Since pregnancy requires balance between maternal–fetal binomial, breakdown this caused by such environmental can lead altered fetal neurodevelopment, ASD. With firmly mind, review aims compile most recent on that may development help health professionals identify risk factors act for prevention management

Asthma is a highly heterogeneous inflammatory disease that can have significant effect on both the respiratory system and central nervous system. Population based studies animal models found asthma to be comorbid with number of neurological conditions, including depression, anxiety, neurodevelopmental disorders. In addition, maternal during pregnancy has been associated disorders in offspring, such as autism spectrum attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. this article, we review most current epidemiological identify links it relates individuals suffer from impacts may offspring neurodevelopment. We also discuss relevant investigating these links, address gaps knowledge, explore potential future directions field.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder whose prevalence has increased dramatically in the United States over past two decades. It characterized by stereotyped behaviors and impairments social interaction communication. In this paper, we present evidence that autism can be viewed as PIN1 deficiency syndrome.PIN1 (Peptidylprolyl Cis/Trans Isomerase, NIMA-Interacting 1) peptidylprolyl cis/trans isomerase, it widespread influences biological organisms.Broadly speaking, linked to many neurodegenerative diseases, whereas overexpression cancer.Death associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) strongly inhibits PIN1, hormone melatonin DAPK1.Melatonin autism. It recently been shown glyphosate exposure rats synthesis due glutamate release from glial cells expression of metabotropic receptors.Glyphosate's inhibition leads reduction availability neurons. In show explain unique morphological features autism, including dendritic spine density, missing or thin corpus callosum reduced bone density. We how disrupts functioning powerful high level signaling molecules, such nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 (NRF2) p53.Dysregulation both these proteins autism.Severe depletion glutathione brain resulting chronic oxidative stressors extracellular oxidation cysteine residue inactivating further contributing deficiency.Impaired autophagy sensitivity neurons ferroptosis. Finally, consider potential toxic effects mRNA SARS-CoV-2 vaccines light metabolic defects propose children with would especially sensitive damage vaccines.

Mothers with asthma or atopy have a higher likelihood of having autistic children, maternal immune activation in pregnancy implicated as mechanism. This study aimed to determine, prospective cohort mothers and their infants, whether inflammatory gene expression is associated future autism. were recruited the Breathing for Life Trial. RNA was extracted from blood samples collected at mid-pregnancy. 300 ng total hybridized nCounter Human Inflammation panel (Nanostring Technologies, 249 inflammation-related genes). Parents completed First Year Inventory (FYI) 12-month follow-up, which assessed an infant's autism across 2 behavioural domains: social communication sensory regulation. A score ≥19.2 indicated increased Inflammatory profiled 24 mothers: four infants scored high range; 20 low range. Six genes differentially expressed significantly up-regulated group:

Background/Objectives: In utero exposure to painkillers has raised concerns regarding its potential impact on neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study investigates the association between in and trajectories of hyperactivity emotional problems children with without ASD, separately. Methods: Data were drawn from 5107 participants enrolled Longitudinal Study Australian Children. Emotional behavioral assessed using Strengths Difficulties Questionnaire at ages 4, 6, 8 years. ASD diagnosis was determined based parental self-report by age 12. To examine outcomes, mixed linear models applied assess problems, controlling for sex, time, other perinatal risk factors. The interaction term time included evaluate effect trajectory over time. Results: did not significantly affect or problem ASD. However, non-ASD children, painkiller associated worsening 8, males being affected a greater extent than females. Further, scores increased gender, reflecting developmental challenges early childhood. Conclusions: These findings indicate that prenatal is unlikely be major determinant severity outcomes autistic but role among neurotypical warrants further investigation. Future research should prioritize precise assessments integrate multi-environment interactions elucidate long-term impacts use.
