Abstract Background Several pioneering studies investigated deep brain stimulation (DBS) in treatment-refractory anorexia nervosa (AN) patients, but overall effects remain yet unclear. Aim of this study was to obtain estimates efficacy DBS AN-patients using meta-analysis. Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe and life-threatening psychiatric disorder. Initial studies on deep brain stimulation (DBS) in severe, treatment-refractory AN have shown clinical effects. However, the working mechanisms of DBS remain largely unknown. Hypothalamic dysfunction may result in morbid obesity as a consequence of decreased energy expenditure, feelings satiety, and increased fat storage. In patients with hypothalamic dysfunction, neurobehavioral is also often present. Currently, no effective treatment has been found for (HO). We hypothesize that deep brain stimulation (DBS) be an aiming to treat HO well the dysfunction.A systematic search was conducted PubMed, EMBASE Cochrane Library databases studies published until May 2022 reporting on DBS HO.Three met predetermined inclusion criteria, total six treated HO, which five Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) one patient after craniopharyngioma (CP).
