Abstract Recent calls have been made for equity tools and frameworks to be integrated throughout the research design life cycle —from conception implementation—with an emphasis on reducing inequity in artificial intelligence (AI) machine learning (ML) applications. Simply stating that should throughout, however, leaves much desired as industrial ecology (IE) researchers, practitioners, decision‐makers attempt employ equitable practices. In this forum piece, we use a critical review approach explain how socioecological inequities emerge ML applications across their stages by leveraging food system. With the climate change we are experiencing today, number and intensity of heatwaves increasing dramatically, significantly impacting our buildings’ overheating. The majority prefabricated concrete panel buildings in Hungary considered outdated from an energy point view. These may be at greater risk extreme weather events. To examine this, long-term monitoring measurements needed. Therefore, developed a unique, reliable, cost-effective wireless system, which can track real time indoor air quality data (temperature, relative humidity, CO2) investigated apartment building, as well users’ habits, such resident presence, window opening, blind movement. were used to analyse quantify summer overheating dwelling user habits. showed that average temperature all rooms was above 26 °C, there several occasions when exceeded 30 °C. Overheating is significant problem needs addressed. Further investigation ventilation habits will help develop favourable strategies, using these dynamic simulations also improve models’ validity for further studies.

The Internet of Things (IoT) facilitates intelligent building management by deploying IoT devices as crucial components subsystems.
