Understanding occupants' behaviour and thermal preferences is key to designing less energy-intensive buildings. However, qualitative research methods understand can be time-consuming limited by participants' recall bias interpretations. This paper introduces a participatory method of 'video diaries' for interrogating post-occupancy energy use with their own mobile phones. The applied middleclass women's domestic comfort practices in Amman, Jordan, focusing on windows, fans air-conditioning (AC). study demonstrates the method's effectiveness capturing interrelated energy-dependent practices, adaptive materiality homes. In particular, video diaries reveal: (1) overlapping 'messy' tied technologies (e.g. AC fans) unexpected ways always ventilating while cooking or exercising) that challenge conventional building simulation approaches account only thermally motivated actions; (2) diverse perceptions negotiated through gendered bodies practices; (3) usefulness dairies as form self-reflection increased awareness may result behavioural change. argues using supplement such surveys field measurements, particularly evaluations simulations use.

Ice-on-coil energy storage technology has been widely used in air conditioning systems and industrial refrigeration as an efficient technology. This paper reviews the research progress of ice-on-coil technology, including its working principle, system design, key parameter optimization, practical application challenges solutions. Three kinds ice melting are introduced. The internal largest cold density slowest rate melting. external lowest fastest combined can have highest a high By comparing results different studies, influence fin thin ring on heat transfer enhancements is summarized. It found that time be reduced by 21% 34% when annular set. Regarding control, adopting ice-melting priority strategy increases operating consumption, but economy improves; using unit lowers suffers slightly. When cooling demand exceeds capacity chiller, control more economical. Some suggestions for future presented, such optimizing shape arrangement coil fins integrated with renewable energy. provides guidance further development
