Riverside landscape belts are crucial for mitigating urban heat islands and enhancing esthetics. This study investigates the thermal environment effects of X21 configurations in riverside using field measurements numerical simulations. The physiologically equivalent temperature (PET) assesses human comfort variations. Main findings demonstrate that “enclosed tree–shrub–grass” configuration is most effective plant arrangement environment, with grassland identified as optimal underlying surface configuration. Moreover, PET reveals spaces provide greater during morning midday periods, while “shrub–grass” areas more suitable evening. research provides a theoretical framework empirical data planning design, significantly advancing optimization esthetic quality.
