The assessment of Ecosystem Health (EH) is crucial for effective ecosystem services (ES) management and global environmental change assessment. This study aims to assess the spatio-temporal EH in Kolkata Metropolitan Area (KMA) from 2000 2019, based on Vigor-Organization-Resilience (VOR) model. Vigor, Organization, Elasticity were assessed using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), landscape matrices, land use cover (LULC) data. Local Moran's I Coefficient Variation (CV) was applied EH's spatial pattern. results showed that built-up areas increased by 90%. In contrast, vegetation decreased approximately 57%. (0.62) 2019 (0.38). Good 73% 52%, respectively. Whereas, weak 21% this period. Also, variability 23% 56% between deterioration KMA attributed rapid urban expansion decrease. Therefore, needs be integrated into decision-making framework better sustainable management.

Abstract Assessing the effects of land use and cover (LULC) on ecosystem service values (ESVs) is critical for public understanding policymaking. This study evaluated impacts LULC dynamics ESVs in Chandigarh city India. The assessment changes was performed by analyzing satellite imagery area years 1990 2020 with different band combinations ArcGIS (10.8 version software). In addition, we analyzed services which were based classes area. Five identified present (Water bodies, forest vegetation, built-up, agriculture shrubland open spaces). results demonstrated (from to 2020) that agricultural areas decreased 4.19% 37.01%, respectively, whereas built-up substantially increased 104.61%. Overall, ESV 2.54% from due rapid urbanization. combination valuation can increase our issues an urban ecosystem. Hence, recommend integration as a tool could provide information policymakers, planners managers sustainable future.

Ecosystem services are the beneficial goods and that ecosystems provide to humans. Urbanization is an important feature of human social development. While promoting economic development, it also brings about land degradation, resource depletion, environmental pollution other problems, intensifying transformation natural into semi-natural artificial ecosystems, ultimately leading loss ecosystem service functions declining value. The study impact urbanization on value critical importance for conservation sustainable This examined spatio-temporal patterns urbanization’s impacts in Yellow River Basin from perspective heterogeneity. Findings: (1) Both (ESV) level (UL) were rise whole, but they significantly spatially negatively correlated mainly characterized by high–low spatial clustering “low ESV–high UL” “high ESV–low UL”. negative correlation was gradually weakened with development mode ecological restoration projects Basin. (2) five subsystems diverse. Landscape had a all regions; innovation changed having positive impact; demographic both impact. (3) To promote coordinated protection YRB, this paper proposes change model, implement zoning, formulate classified plans. compensates shortcomings current studies ignore different lack sufficient consideration heterogeneity characteristics ESVs, enriches theoretical understanding interrelationships between systems basin areas, provides scientific basis rational formulation urban planning policies region, which great practical significance.
