Abstract GPR85/SREB2 is an exceptionally well-conserved orphan 7TM receptor with unclear biological attributes. In this study, we used several zebrafish genetic models to investigate Gpr85 properties and functions throughout development adulthood. We describe that, like in mammals, gpr85 expressed by various neuronal populations adulthood the central nervous system, retina intestine. The overexpression of a fluorochrome-tagged version -expressing neurons provides first vivo evidence that enriched at synaptic level brain retina. Transcriptomic analysis knock-out cerebellar granule cells revealed changes gene expression related enhanced activity. Further investigations using ex slices demonstrate electrophysiological activity deficient are increased. also observed larvae exhibit light-triggered startle responses dark/light paradigm behavioral experiments. Altogether, our results provide zebrafish, influences cell as well motor responses.
