Cadmium (Cd), a typical marine pollutant with long half-life, is effectively monitored using bivalves as indicator organisms. Cd enters through their filter-feeding behavior. Research on accumulation capacity in different bivalve tissues and toxicological effects of significant interest. However, recent research the has not been systematically summarized. Therefore, this study presents detailed comprehensive review results sources, determination methods safety assessment bivalves. Additionally, it discusses strategies for controlling levels provides an outlook future directions. The ultimate goal to improve food source promote sustainable development aquaculture.
