Carbon dots (CDs) are widely used in the detection of foodborne contaminants because their biocompatibility, photoluminescence stability, and ease chemical modification. In order to solve interference problem complexity food matrices, development ratiometric fluorescence sensors shows great prospects. this review, progress based on CDs contaminant recent years will be summarized, focusing functionalized modification CDs, sensing mechanism, types sensors, application portable devices. addition, outlook field presented, with smartphone applications related software helping better enable on-site ensure safety human health.

Precise and reliable onsite detection of methyl mercaptan (CH3SH) is great significance for environmental surveillance. Here, we synthesized a novel blue fluorescence nanozyme CeO2@TPE with high peroxidase-like activity by employing aggregation-induced emission (AIE) tetraphenylethene (TPE) to embed into hollow CeO2 nanospheres. In the presence ethanol oxidase (AOX) o-phenylenediamine (OPD), engineered an enzymatic cascade activation ratiometric fluorescence-colorimetric dual-mode system AOX/CeO2@TPE + OPD toward CH3SH. this design, CH3SH initiated AOX catalytic convert it H2O2 activating CeO2@TPE, producing •OH oxidizing naked-eye colorless deep yellow 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) absorption enhancement at ∼425 nm, companied new peak ∼550 nm match intrinsic ∼441 observing response, enabling analysis. Interestingly, both colorimetric signals could be gathered being converted hue parameter on smartphone-based sensor, achieving visual in real media acceptable results. This study gave insight designing target-responsive system-based efficient point-of-care sensors safeguarding health.

Abstract Biogenic amines (BAs) are important indicators for the evaluation of food spoilage and disease diagnosis. Thus, detection BAs with high practical potential is great importance. In this work, a new fluorescent probe design strategy proposed by intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) enhancement probes, which induced hydrogen bond interaction between probes analyte. The T1 T2 donor–acceptor structure not only present 140 nm bathochromic‐shifted emission, ultrafast responses (15 s 25 ), sensitivity (detection limit 1.3 ppm 2.6 ) to cadaverine (the typical representative BAs) but also discriminate series simply reused at least 30 times after air blowing. Further, quantitative system obtained based on films. Through Red/Green/Blue analysis smartphone, total volatile basic nitrogen (an international standard assess spoilage) value can be output quantitatively evaluate freshness food. fast, visual, accurate, non‐destructive, enabling consumers all stakeholders in supply chain monitor freshness.
