Based on the electron-deficient property of picric acid (PA), two neutral Ir(III) complexes 1 and 2 modified with electron-rich carbazolyl groups were synthesized characterized. Both exhibit aggregation-induced phosphorescence emission (AIPE) properties in THF/H2O. Among them, is extremely sensitive for detecting PA a limit detection 0.15 μM Furthermore, selectivity significantly higher compared to other analytes, enabling efficient four common water samples. The density functional theory calculations spectroscopic results confirm that sensing mechanism photo-induced electron transfer.
