Abstract Enhancing the thermal decomposition efficiency and safety of ammonium perchlorate (AP) is far‐reaching significance in composite propellants. Most catalysts act well on AP, however, synergistically achievements fastened improved mechanical are still challenge. Herein, neutral red (NR) selected from typical dyes through theoretical calculations, acting as an organic decoration AP crystal with performances. Among four dyes, NR demonstrated highest adsorption energy evident charge transfer at interface. Following preparations a freeze‐drying technique obtained quasi‐homogeneous energetic (NR‐AP‐5%). The large interaction force between promoted rupture chemical bonds Cl O proved by TG‐MS, showing excellent energy‐release performance decreased exothermic peak 437.0 to 355.5 °C. Correspondingly, activation reduced 213.59 107.72 kJ mol −1 , largely increased heat release 447.29 1014.86 J g .
