Abstract From the point of view ecological environment, contaminants such as heavy metal ions or toxic gases have caused harmful impacts on environment and human health, overcoming these adverse effects remains a serious important task. Very recent, highly crystalline porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), with tailorable chemistry excellent chemical stability, shown promising properties in field removing various hazardous pollutants. This review concentrates recent progress MOFs MOF‐based materials their exploit environmental applications, mainly including water treatment gas storage separation. Finally, challenges trends for future developments are discussed explored.
