Microbes play an important role in aquatic carbon cycling but we have a limited understanding of their functional responses to changes temperature across large geographic areas. Here, explored how microbial communities utilized different substrates and the underlying ecological mechanisms along space-for-time substitution gradient future climate change. The included 47 lakes from five major lake regions China spanning difference nearly 15°C mean annual temperatures (MAT). Our results indicated that warmer generally had lower values variables related concentrations greater utilization than those colder regions. under higher could be attributed bacterial community composition, with abundance Cyanobacteria Actinobacteriota less Proteobacteria We also found core species networks changed increasing temperature, Hydrogenophaga Rhodobacteraceae, which inhibited amino acids carbohydrates, CL500-29-marine-group, promoted all almost substrates. Rhizosphere is a crucial area in comprehending the interaction between plants and microorganisms constructed wetlands (CWs). However, influence of photoperiod, key factor that regulates photosynthesis rhizosphere microbial activity, remains largely unknown. This study investigated effect photoperiod (9, 12, 15 hours/day) on pollutant removal underlying mechanisms. Results showed 15-hour treatment exhibited highest efficiencies for COD (87.26%), TN (63.32%), NO3--N (97.79%). enhanced photosynthetic pigmentation root which increased transport oxygen soluble organic carbon to rhizosphere, thus promoting nitrification denitrification. Microbial community analysis revealed more stable co-occurrence network due complexity aggregation treatment. Phaselicystis was identified as connector, responsible transferring necessary sources, ATP, electron donors supported optimized nitrogen metabolism CWs. Motivated by the carbon neutrality target, strategic planning for a low-carbon transition of sludge treatment and disposal in China is challenging due to unpredictability technical, regional, socioeconomic, political factors affecting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This study combines use Life Cycle Assessment Patient Rule Induction Method, accounting possibilities that could achieve net-zero emissions exploring multiple plausible future profiles disposal. Results show reducing landfill increasing anaerobic digestion are effective methods facilitate GHG reduction. Achieving closely linked developing cleaner electricity mix. Based on cascaded scenario analysis considering regional differences 31 Chinese provinces, results demonstrated maximum cumulative reduction potential 371 Mt CO2 equivalents from 2020 2050, equal 59.84% business-as-usual scenario.
