Pharmaceutical residues are the undecomposed remains from drugs used in medical and food industries. Organic pollutants are harmful to the environment due their bio-accumulative and long-persistent nature, causing adverse effects on plants, animals, humans. Their rapid spread beyond target applications in ecosystem could be responsible for various fatal diseases eco imbalances. Conventional techniques removing these ineffective because of high solubility water nonbiodegradability. In contemporary times, we have witnessed a notable surge interest advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) treatment processes. This heightened attention is attributed exceptional degradation efficiency recalcitrant organic pollutants. review, therefore, focuses copper-based homogeneous heterogeneous catalysts AOPs that offer both cost-effectiveness performance. Emphasis placed use photocatalysis, Fenton-like process (including photo-Fenton (Fe2+/UV/H2O2)), persulfates activation, ultrasonic irradiation. The catalytic performance, mechanism, pathway abatement by each AOP described detail. reusability, stability, factors affecting briefly highlighted. We further provide perspectives key opportunities challenges associated with AOPs, recommending exploration enhanced future studies.

Photocatalysis offers a direct, yet robust, approach to eradicate pathogenic bacteria. However, the practical implementation of photocatalytic disinfection faces significant challenge due low-efficiency photogenerated carrier separation and transfer. Here, we present an effective improve performance by exploiting pyro-phototronic effect through synergistic combination pyroelectric properties processes. A set comprehensive studies reveals that temperature fluctuation-induced field promotes photoexcited transfer thus facilitates generation reactive oxygen species ultimately enhances performance. It is worth highlighting constructed film demonstrated exceptional antibacterial efficiency exceeding 95% against bacteria under fluctuations light irradiation. Moreover, versatile modulation role in boosting was corroborated. This work paves way for improving harnessing potential various inherent material properties.
