Heavy metal removal from wastewater and valuable recovery electronic waste are of critical environmental economic significance. Separation based on the use polymer inclusion membranes (PIMs) with advantage simultaneous extraction stripping has emerged as a promising approach for efficient selective ion and/or wastewaters or waste. However, conventional extractants used in PIMs often not to certain ions, highly volatile toxic, leading low efficiency significant concerns. In literature, mistakes and inconsistencies in evaluation of the adsorption equilibrium, kinetics, thermodynamics pollutants removal often exist. Here, we review these propose a standardized methodology, with focus on polyaniline (PANI)-based adsorbents to correctly determine equilibrium data, kinetic rates, time, capacity. Removal aqueous by PANI-based through well-designed experiments predominantly involves monolayer chemisorption. Spent coffee grounds (SCGs) have great potential as a useful, value-added biological material. In this context, activated carbon (AC) was prepared from SCGs by an activation process using H3PO4 at 600 °C in the air and used adsorbent for azo dye AO7, model molecule colorants found textile industry effluents. X-ray diffraction, SEM BET revealed that AC predominantly amorphous, consisting of powder 20–100 µm particles with mesopores averaging 5.5 nm pore size. Adsorption kinetics followed pseudo-second-order law, while Langmuir best fitted experimental isotherm data (maximum capacity 119.5 mg AO7 per g). The thermodynamic parameters adsorption endothermic spontaneous. All characterizations indicated occurred physisorption via mainly π–π interactions. removal efficiency optimized means Box–Behnken design response surface methodology 98% initial concentration 20 mg·L−1 pH 7.5 dose 0.285 g·L−1 contact time 40 min. These results clearly show can be useful material efficiently removing organic matter aqueous solutions.
