High‐Performance Intermetallic Pt3Co/C Electrocatalyst for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction Synthesized by Pre‐Lithiation Method DOI

Abstract Fuel cells are recognized as promising alternatives to existing conventional energy systems for a sustainable future. However, the synthesis of efficient and robust platinum (Pt) based catalysts remains challenge practical fuel cell applications. Herein, Pt 3 Co/C nanoparticles with about 4.45 nm firstly prepared by “pre‐lithiation‐deposition” strategy on C carrier used electrocatalysts cathodic oxygen reduction reaction. Notably, after heat treatment at 600 °C, obtained Co/C‐600 catalyst shows excellent mass specific activities (MA SA) 0.69 A mg 1.01 mA cm , respectively, which more than one order magnitude higher that Pt/C‐600. In particular, accelerated durability testing 20k cycles, (98.3 % retention MA) is much without pre‐lithiation (42.5 MA). The alloying Co use “pre‐lithiation” enable strong interactions between carbon carriers Pt‐Co contributed increased activity stability. This work provides new perspective development high‐performance low‐cost alloy electrocatalysts.
