Aged landfill leachate is a type of refractory wastewater containing high concentrations humic substances and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N). A new three-dimensional electrocatalytic oxidation (3D-ECO) system was constructed to treat aged using composite-loaded metal electrode as the anode, titanium plate cathode, coconut shell biochar (CBC) particle electrodes. The conditions for electrochemical reaction were first optimized, pollutant removal effects two-dimensional (2D) 3D systems compared under optimal conditions. Finally, degradation mechanism analysed. results showed that when initial pH 5, current density 30 mA/cm², addition 7 g/L, spacing 4 cm, efficiency in highest. At then rates COD NH3-N 90.2% 30.4%, respectively, while same conditions, they 2D only 41.1% 17.4%, respectively. introduction CBC has increased rate organic pollutants by 49.1% reduced energy consumption 57.2%.
