Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) and graphitic carbon nitride (gCN) are burgeoning multifunctional materials that have attracted a considerable interest as heterogeneous catalysts for environmental remediation. In the present work, we report on x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy characterization of representative MgAlTi-LDH/gCN heterocomposite, obtained by simple mixing single powdered constituents. Monochromated Al Kα radiation (1486.6 eV) was used source excitation to acquire both wide-scan spectra high-resolution signals principal element core levels. The main spectral features target system critically examined discussed in relation data related pristine MgAlTi-LDH. results highlight occurrence an electronic interplay between material constituents, anticipating enhanced separation photogenerated charge carriers improved activity photocatalytic applications. reported will serve comparison LDH-based under various processing conditions different end-uses.
