Functional corrosion inhibitors can enhance the anticorrosion performance of epoxy resin; however, traditional tend to lose structural integrity when coating is damaged and fail provide secondary protection metal substrate. In this work, zinc silicate/polypyrrole (Zn2SiO4/PPy) composite was synthesized via an in situ self-induced polymerization method. During salt water immersion test process, artificially coatings exhibited self-healing characteristics, attributed Fe3+ ions solution acting as initiator for polypyrrole (PPy), causing dissociated pyrrole monomer continue polymerizing into PPy. addition, specific capacitance Zn2SiO4/PPy composites increased by 11.67 F/g compared Zn2SiO4, which indicates that has a higher storing electrons. The contact angle 74.0° improved 21.7 15.7° with Zn2SiO4 PPy, reducing area or other corrosive solutions on coated surface. impedance value 16.62 times resin at 120 h. This work provides new approach development inhibitors.
