A repurposed apathogenic double stranded (ds) RNA vaccine virus, the infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV), significantly upregulates expressions of type I interferon (IFN) genes. IBDV superinfection therapy (SIT) has been proven to be safe and effective against hepatitis A, B, C viruses (HAV, HBV, HCV), severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), herpes zoster (HZV). might used control most infections before adaptive immunity develops. The safety efficacy a reverse engineered new viral drug candidate, strain R903/78, could reconfirmed in patients short-term Phase I/II study. With an off-the-shelf, stockpiled R903/78 drug, many millions deaths repeat US$12 trillion world spent on COVID-19 mitigated.

ABSTRACT The processes involved in acquiring, trading, preparing, and consuming wild meat pose significant risks for the emergence of zoonotic infectious diseases. Several major viral outbreaks have been directly linked to supply chain, yet our knowledge virome many mammals this chain remains limited disproportionately focused on certain mammalian taxa pathogens. This report presents findings a metagenomic screening 99 specimens belonging 27 African mammal species one domesticated species, all traded their meat. study focuses tissue swab samples collected from various regions Democratic Republic Congo Brussels, Belgium. A total fifteen virus strains were detected, families Arteriviridae , Retroviridae Sedoreoviridae (primates), Picobirnaviridae (primates rodents), Picornaviridae (rodents), Hepadnaviridae (hyrax), Orthoherpesviridae (artiodactylid carnivore) Spinareoviridae (carnivore). detected hosts first time, expanding host range genetic diversity. Of note is presence viruses genetically related recognised pathogens, i.e., human picobirnavirus ( Orthopicobirnavirus hominis ) simian foamy Simiispumavirus rotavirus Rotavirus alphagastroenteritidis (primates). these primates concerning as non-human are phylogenetically closely humans, which can facilitate interspecies transmission. These underscore high diversity potential risk infection through cross-species transmission during close interactions with wildlife chain.
