Cell polarity is fundamental to morphogenesis across living organisms. In plants, a dynamic interplay between cues and the cytoskeleton orchestrates essential asymmetric cell divisions diverse species. Here, we focus on three functions for cytoskeleton—organelle positioning, growth mitosis—and discuss our current understanding of how controls these processes. By taking comparative approach that highlights what known about pathways plant species, spotlight both broadly conserved type-specific ways can regulate division orientation. Because there have been significant developments in field within last several years, attention recent work give perspective exciting future avenues investigation into reciprocal relationship cytoskeleton.
