As a unique class of plant-specific transcription factors, the GROWTH-REGULATING FACTORs (GRFs) play pivotal roles in regulating plant growth, development, and stress responses. In this study, woody Populus ussuriensis was taken as research object. Nineteen PuGRFs were identified classified into six clades, their potential evolutionary relationships analyzed. The possible biological functions speculated through bioinformatics analysis. Combining real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, determined to be actively expressed young tissues, there are distinct tissue-specific expressions mature tissues plants. We also conducted RT-qPCR under different abiotic stresses phytohormone treatments, most family members induced treatments methyl jasmonate (MEJA) salicylic acid (SA), we found that 4 19 might participate abscisic (ABA)-mediated osmotic roots. Protein-protein interaction prediction analysis showed can interact with two types growth-regulating factors (GIFs). Further verification revealed PuGRF1/2c PuGRF1/2d, which belong same clade have highly similar sequences, exhibited divergent capabilities GIFs, indicating fine-tuning functional redundancy within GRF family. These findings lay foundation for studying molecular mechanisms P. ussuriensis, suggest important responding hormones environmental changes, worthy exploration.
