Abstract This study deals with the synthesis and characterization of Sr-doped ZnO thin films different concentrations (1, 3, 5, 7 wt%) using SILAR method (Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption Reaction). The main objective is to evaluate effectiveness as photocatalysts for degradation methylene blue under natural sunlight conditions. X-ray diffraction analysis confirms polycrystalline nature films, crystallite size increasing Sr doping along (100) plane. Morphological changes on film surfaces are revealed by scanning electron microscopy correlate content. Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX) that there no impurities in all films. 3D surface topography shows higher leads an increase average roughness root mean square (Rq) values. Measurements water droplet contact angle (WDCA) indicate hydrophilicity surface. Optical absorption capacity increases shifts slightly towards longer wavelengths.
