This review analyzes TiO2-based coatings formed by the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process of titanium for photocatalytic degradation methyl orange (MO) under simulated solar irradiation conditions. PEO is recognized as a useful technique creating oxide on various metals, particularly titanium, to assist in organic pollutants. photocatalysts form are more practical than powder because photocatalyst does not need be recycled and reused after wastewater treatment, which an expensive time-consuming process. In addition, main advantage synthesis its short processing time (a few minutes), it excludes annealing step needed convert amorphous TiO2 into crystalline phase, prerequisite possible application. Pure have low efficiency MO, due rapid recombination photo-generated electron/hole pairs. this review, recent advances sensitization with narrow band gap semiconductors (WO3, SnO2, CdS, Sb2O3, Bi2O3, Al2TiO5), doping rare earth ions (example Eu3+) transition metals (Mn, Ni, Co, Fe) summarized effective strategy reduce pairs improve coatings.
