AbstractBiochar is a solid material that contains lot of carbon and created by heating biomass in an environment where there little or no oxygen. It has become clear biochar holds great promise for combating climate change, enhancing soil fertility, eliminating pollutants, promoting effective waste disposal. In particular, sawdust produced via thermochemical processes drawn attention because its affordability abundant availability. This review paper presents general summary the production processes, including pyrolysis, hydrothermal carbonization, torrefaction, gasification. was observed specific yields performance these methods vary depending on feedstock source, process parameters, equipment used. Additionally, properties biochar, such as content, surface area, stability, also method. The effects operating factors sawdust-biochar temperature, rate, residence duration, are covered study. While challenges exist, ongoing research aims to improve applications, making it valuable tool climate-smart agriculture sustainable land management. Keywords: Biocharsawdustthermochemical processespyrolysiswaste management Disclosure statementNo potential conflict interest reported author(s).Additional informationFundingThis work received external funding.

This comparative study explores the production and characterization of biochar derived from a combination sugarcane bagasse (SB) chicken feathers (CF), with doping strategy for each biomass in other. Two biochars, SB92CF-BC (92% SB 8% CF) CF92SB-BC CF SB), were produced using top-lit updraft reactor, resulting yield 34% 27%, respectively. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis revealed characteristic functional groups both minimal impact process. Scanning electron (SEM) showed distinct morphological features, exhibiting smoother surface displaying an irregular rough morphology. Energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) confirmed presence several elements higher nitrogen content CF92SB-BC. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) demonstrated significant specific areas exceeding those reported unmodified biochars. The findings suggest potential synergistic effects strategy. expands knowledge on diverse sources highlights utilizing lignocellulosic non-lignocellulosic waste materials sustainable production.

Abstract This study is a review of published literature that discusses the utilization biochar (BC) and plastics as filler matrix, respectively, in composite material. These composites, referred to Biochar-filled plastic composites (BFPCs), play significant role production environmentally friendly materials. paper provides an overview BFPCs, their properties (mechanical, rheological, morphological, electrical, thermal properties), fabrication techniques, prospects challenges associated with development. Even though there have been previous studies on none these discussed drawbacks potential development BFPCs. BCs’ small weight makes them more appealing option than traditional mineral fillers when it comes reducing vehicle weight. Due superior mechanical qualities, well low carbon footprint, BC-filled (BFPCs) It was observed either melt extrusion or injection molding are usually used fabricate BFPC. BFPCs influenced by several factors such type concentration plastic, method fabrication, BC content, mixing uniformity mixture, wetting, particle dispersion. Challenges were also discussed, issue agglomeration poor interfacial bonding at high concentrations composite. Composites made from recycled polymers biodegradable can be developed improve composites’ overall sustainability.
