Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a global health burden that affects millions of individuals worldwide, necessitating extensive patient education. Large language models (LLMs) hold promise for addressing information needs. However, LLM use to deliver accurate and comprehensible IBD-related medical has yet be thoroughly investigated. To assess the utility three LLMs (ChatGPT-4.0, Claude-3-Opus, Gemini-1.5-Pro) as reference point patients with IBD. In this comparative study, two gastroenterology experts generated 15 questions reflected common concerns. These were used evaluate performance LLMs. The answers provided by each model independently assessed using Likert scale focusing on accuracy, comprehensibility, correlation. Simultaneously, invited comprehensibility their answers. Finally, readability assessment was performed. Overall, achieved satisfactory levels completeness when answering questions, although varies. All investigated demonstrated strengths in providing basic such IBD definition well its symptoms diagnostic methods. Nevertheless, dealing more complex advice, medication side effects, dietary adjustments, complication risks, quality inconsistent between Notably, Claude-3-Opus better than other models. have potential educational tools IBD; however, there are discrepancies Further optimization development specialized necessary ensure accuracy safety provided.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) includes chronic inflammatory conditions, such as Crohn's and ulcerative colitis, characterized by impaired function of the intestinal mucosal epithelial barrier. In recent years, ferroptosis, a novel form cell death, has been confirmed to be involved in pathological process IBD is related various changes, oxidative stress inflammation. Recent studies have further revealed complex interactions between microbiome indicating that ferroptosis an important target for regulation gut microbiota its metabolites. This article reviews significant roles microbial metabolites, short-chain fatty acids, tryptophan, bile IBD. These metabolites participate influencing microenvironment, modulating immune responses, altering levels, thereby exerting impact on development Treatments based are gradually becoming research hotspot. Finally, we discuss potential current therapeutic approaches, including antibiotics, probiotics, prebiotics, fecal transplantation, microbiota, affecting improving symptoms. With deeper understanding interaction mechanisms it expected more precise effective treatment strategies will developed future.

The relationship between simple appendicitis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is not clear. In this study, we approach the issue from a genetic perspective, using Mendelian randomization (MR) tools to explore potential causal connection two. We used GWAS data 12,882 IBD patients (21,770 controls), 5956 crohn's (CD) (14,927 6968 ulcerative colitis (UC) (20,464 4604 (481,880 controls). These statistical were derived large-scale whole-genome association study of individuals with European ancestry. primary analytical method for inferring conditions involved use Inverse Variance Weighting (IVW) as main bidirectional MR analysis. analysis results predicted was associated lower risk (OR: 0.947 (0.911, 0.984), p = 0.005). CD 0.948 (0.916, 0.981), 0.002) UC 0.954 (0.917, 0.992), 0.020) are consistent finding. reverse analysis, there no significant occurrence (p > 0.05), same holds true 0.05). Our suggest negative effect on appendicitis. Conversely, does appear be developing IBD.
