Achieved Weight Gain and Return to Work After Intervention With Traditional Japanese Acupuncture for Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder: A Case Report

(ED).
Acupuncture

28-year-old
female
presented
with
reduced

weight,
abdominal
bloating,
abnormal

taste,
tongue
pain.
Her
body
weight
(BW)
had
around
50
kg
until
four
years
previously.
Three
before,
her
symptoms
occurred,
BW
decreased
to
36.5
after
experiencing
excessive
mental
stress
at
workplace.
She
was
diagnosed
by
psychosomatic
physician
tended
refuse
prescribed
antipsychotic
drugs.
treated
weekly
the
Hokushin-kai
style,
traditional
Japanese
acupuncture,
moxibustion
method.
After
month,
patient
felt
somewhat
better
returned
work
once
week
first
time
in
two
years.
Four
months
later,
started
increase.
10
months,
increased
48
kg.
continues.
This
case
suggests
an
optional
ARFID.
Further
studies,
such
combination
medications
would
be
desirable.

Even
though
there
is
still
much
investigate
subject,
it
must
highlighted
that,
4
years,
a
two-fold
increase
has
observed
potential

matter,

highlighting
importance

Anorexia
nervosa
(AN)
is
a
severe
psychiatric
condition
associated
with
high
disability
and
mortality.
The
purpose
of
the
present
manuscript
to
critically
summarize
evidence
about
effectiveness
yoga
for
this
condition.
A
bibliographic
search
was
conducted
in
main
database
sources
(PubMed,
Embase,
Scopus).
Articles
English
AN
were
included.
Two
hundred
thirty-three
articles
initially
identified
5
included
review.
With
exception
one
study,
all
had
several
methodological
limitations
such
as
presence
confounding
factors
(e.g.,
comorbidity)
or
too
limited
sample
patients.
However,
globally
seems
ameliorate
symptoms,
especially
those
regarding
emotional
dysregulation.
Yoga
candidate
complementary
treatment
management
AN,
but
more
randomized
controlled
studies
larger
samples
bias
are
necessary
draw
robust
conclusions.
It
would
be
also
interesting
verify
comparative
trials
respect
other
treatments
psychotherapy
administration
pharmacological
compounds.
Finally,
practice
should
modified
adapting
specific
needs
type
patient.
