Abstract The current study was aimed at studying the long-term effects of diclofenac on freshwater shrimp Neocaridina davidi , concerning survival, somatic growth, and reproduction. To this study, both ovigerous females males species were exposed for 63 d to 0 (control), 0.1, or 1 mg/L diclofenac. At highest concentration, significant mortality detected, growth significantly decreased. percentage with a second spawn, observable from day 45, increased mg/L, while time between spawns reduced concentrations assayed. However, gonadal analysis made end assay in surviving showed lower proportion advanced oocytes as compared control. Concerning hatching, that could have successful hatching diclofenac, especially first spawn. For number juveniles hatched control; these also higher incidence morphological abnormalities, such hydropsy underdeveloped appendages. Taken together, results even when able produce earlier spawns, reproductive output each spawn reduced. No differences spermatophore structure seen distal vas deferens males.

Abstract. Salwiyah, Purnama MF, Syukur. 2022. Ecological index of freshwater gastropods in Kolaka District, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 23: 3031-3041. District is one the existing centers high gastropod diversity Sulawesi Province, more than 30 species inland occupy this area and some them (species) are used by local communities as food (daily consumption). This research was conducted for 4 months, namely January-April 2021 The purpose study to determine ecological (abundance, diversity, evenness, richness, dominance, distribution pattern) community Kolaka. sampling location determined qualitatively using purposive method a simple random technique (Quantitative based). Gastropod samples were collected manually (hand picking) paralone pipe (3.5 inches), Sieve (1 mm), Gloves. total sample obtained during 1929 individuals consisting 9 families, 19 genera, 33 species. average abundance population reached 96.45 ind./m2 ranged from 0.75-15.05 ind./m2. Overall, results analysis showed stable condition, where categorized (H': 3.20), moderate evenness (E: 0.90), richness (R: 4.23), dominant dominance. that there no (C: 0.1) clumped pattern (Ip: 0.01). A freshwater snail assay was employed to assess the embryotoxicity of solvents including acetone, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, dimethyl-sulfoxide, glycerin, metals/metalloids mercuric chloride (HgCl2), cadmium (CdCl2,), antimony salts Sb+3 and Sb+5, drugs colchicine, hydroxyurea, cyclophosphamide, an industrial chemical sodium azide (SA), anionic surfactant dodecyl sulfate-(DSS), H2O2 (NaCl). The consists exposing Biomphalaria glabrata egg masses (EM) substances for 96-hr following up embryo/snail development lethality, abnormal morphology (teratogenicity), day hatching 10 or 14 after spawning. Based upon concentration-response relationships, LC50%s (embryolethality), EC50%s (teratogenicity) IC50%s (hatching retardation) 95%CIs were determined tested chemicals. LOECs indicated that HgCl2 (37 nM) CdCl2 (140 are potent embryotoxic agents in snails. Teratogenic indices (TI = LC50/EC50) almost all chemicals lower than close unity suggesting these compounds not teratogenic this assay. may be adequately performed a cost-effective standardized protocol which enables testing number environmental over broad concentration range. needs undergo further validation recognized internationally harmonized hazard identification ecotoxicity risk assessment.

Abstract. Oetama D, Purnama MF. 2022. Freshwater gastropod community in South Konawe District, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 23: 3364-3372. The freshwater population Indonesia, consists of aquatic and terrestrial snail communities. This resource (gastropod) is an ecological economic potential that needs to be maintained utilized optimally sustainably. research was conducted April-July 2021 aimed determine the index inland District. sampling location determined qualitatively using purposive method a simple random technique (Quantitative based). Gastropod samples were collected manually (hand picking) with paralon pipe (3.5 inches), Sieve (1 mm), Gloves. total gastropods obtained at 33 locations this district 2635 individuals. comprised 19 genera species spread over 9 families, namely Achantinidae, Ampullariidae, Ariophantidae, Lymnaeidae, Neritidae, Pachychilidae, Planorbidae, Thiaridae, Viviparidae. average abundance reached 79.85 ind./m2 ranged from 0.58-13.48 ind./m2. Overall, analysis ecology showed stable condition, where diversity categorized as high (H'= 3.03), moderate evenness (E= 0.87), richness (R= 4.06). There no dominant (C= 0.08) distribution clustered pattern (Ip= 0.02). These values indicated waters District condition. Although simultaneously has same area invasive family Melanoides tuberculata (O.F.Müller, 1774) Tarebia granifera (Lamarck, 1816).
