Titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalysts, characterized by exceptional photocatalytic activity, high photoelectric conversion efficiency, and economic viability, have found widespread application in recent years for azo dye degradation. However, inherent constraints, such as the material’s limited visible light absorption stemming from its bandgap swift recombination of charge carriers, impeded broader potential. Encouragingly, these barriers can be mitigated through modification TiO2. In this review, common synthesis methods TiO2 are reviewed, research progress technology at home abroad is discussed detail, including precious metal deposition, transition doping, rare earth composite semiconductors, polymers. These techniques effectively enhance capacity region reduce rate carriers electrons, thus significantly improving performance. Finally, paper looks forward to future development direction materials, exploration new modified in-depth mechanism research, performance optimization practical applications, provide useful references further materials.
