The consumption of wampee has traditionally been utilized to alleviate gastrointestinal inflammation and associated disorders; however, its exact mechanism remained unknown. aim this study was elucidate the therapeutic efficacy underlying polyphenol extract (WPE) in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC). findings revealed that WPE alleviated diverse symptoms UC, regulated various inflammatory cytokines, effectively protected colon tissue structure barrier integrity, thereby inhibiting LPS translocation. Moreover, restored richness diversity gut microbiota optimized at phylum genus levels, causing a notable improvement short- chain fatty acid (SCFA) metabolism, particularly acetic acid, propionic butyric acid. Consequently, demonstrated suppress LPS-induced TLR4-p38 MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway by modulating SCFA metabolism. These provided theoretical basis for use as potential functional natural food UC.

Wheat bran dietary fiber (WBDF) is a potential functional additive to enrich products used for relieving constipation. The purpose of this study was understand the effects different particle size ranges (mean sizes 84.14, 61.74, 37.39, and 22.33 μm) WBDF on With decrease in size, its morphology exhibited an increase fragmentation, larger pore sizes, formation structural faults. oil-holding capacity (OHC) swelling (SC) were found change with highest OHC observed at 37.39 μm greatest SC 84.14 μm. Animal experiments demonstrated that smaller significantly alleviated loperamide-induced constipation increased intestinal propulsion rate, decreased first melanin excretion time, reduced gastric residual rate. Meanwhile, samples markedly serum MTL AChE levels. Notably, compared model (CMNC) group, small rate MPS40 group by 41.21%, residue 19.69%. improvement symptoms most pronounced. Additionally, abundance Lactobacillus 52.52%, while relative Prevotella 83.55%, diversity gut microbiota altered. These findings provide valuable insights into commercial applications fiber-enriched foods support health.
