Renewable natural gas derived from biogas presents a viable pathway for decarbonizing systems. Wastewater treatment plants equipped with anaerobic digesters often flare or utilize heat and electricity generation, missing the potential of renewable gas. This study investigates techno-economic feasibility emission impact system at small wastewater plant in Southwestern United States. Due to lack existing data on composition contaminants originating within States, samples were tested seasonally year, components are reported this analysis. Using hourly production data, analysis incorporates costs fuel credits 2022 market prices cost remove contaminants. The results show 15-year net present value USD 16.3 million, payback period three years, surpassing economic performance combined power systems previously assessed same facility. Abstract BACKGROUND Dual‐reflux pressure swing adsorption (DR‐PSA) is an advanced variant of conventional PSA systems, capable simultaneously producing two high‐purity products with high recovery. However, inherent trade‐offs among purity, productivity, and cycle work necessitate multi‐objective optimization (MOO) to balance performance. This study investigates the MOO DR‐PSA process for biogas upgrading using artificial neural networks (ANNs) as surrogate models. Single‐hidden‐layer ANNs were developed various structures training algorithms integrated into non‐dominated sorting genetic algorithm‐II solve problems. RESULTS Different performance metrics require distinct ANN architectures algorithms, indicating no universal model selection. The Adam‐ selu‐ 446 CH 4 purity in light product (LP) relu ‐398 work, both on a large dataset, exhibited accuracy, 0.9975 0.9959, respectively. Meanwhile, elu ‐212 bed small achieved 0.9988. Pareto front maximizing LP productivity revealed sharp knee region, significant trade‐off. Under constrained fronts emerged at different levels (>91% 91.5%), fewer feasible solutions higher purity. Ultimately, optimized conditions resulted enhancement by least 17%, reduction much 34%, 30%, compared base case. A laboratory-scale fixed-bed column is employed to study the dynamic behavior of carbon molecular sieve MSC CT-350 for CO2/CH4 separation. Breakthrough adsorption tests in single-component systems are carried out at different pressures (1, 3, 5, 6.5 and 8 bar) constant temperature (20 °C). Moreover, an additional test conducted with a 40% CO2/60% CH4 binary mixture 3 bar. Desorption performed by varying purge-to-feed ratio (P/F) 50%, 30% 20%, optionally using vacuum pump. Experimental results show that has good CO2 capacity each pressure, considerably higher than CH4. In test, very slight differences experimentally found kinetics equilibrium respect single-compound tests, which equal 2.16 mol kg−1 0.302 bar, compared 2.29 0.262 single-compoound counterparts.
