Traditionally, residential youth care (RYC) in the Netherlands has been characterized by short-term placements, groups with relatively large numbers of (8–12), often located on a campus several RYC units. Recently, alternative settings have developed to create home-like environment and promote stability. These are long-term care, smaller (typically 6), placements within community. Examples family-style group homes (with live-in professionals). We aimed gain insight into perceived living different from perspectives 26 youth, 14 parents, 35 professionals. Quantitative data were collected using q-methodology. To deal small sample size, we used triangulation techniques: Mokken scale, Mann-Whitney, by-person factor analyses explore differences environments between settings. found that participants experienced significantly more sensitivity professionals than did traditional RYC. Participants tended emphasize sensitivity, while factual conditions. Alternative may provide opportunities for experience an sensitive positive atmosphere.
