Purpose We present configurational theorising as a novel approach to developing middle-range theory in two steps: (1) we illustrate new form of supply chain inquiry by connecting its philosophical assumptions with methodological execution, and (2) generate insights underpinning for resilience. Design/methodology/approach synthesise information from range sources invoke ‘critical realism” suggest five-phase roadmap develop theory. demonstrate this explain resilience analysing qualitative data 22 organisations within the Australian food chain. Findings Coopetition collaboration are necessary causal conditions, but they need combine either agility or multi-sourcing strategy build Asymmetrical analyses showed that simultaneous absence collaboration, results low resilience, coopetition was indifferent Similarly, high is possible non-presence multi-sourcing. Research limitations/implications The presented empirically tested paper constitutes substantial advancement both domain. Originality/value This first attempt at chains explicitly drawing on theorising.

In the post COVID-19 era, changed freight patterns and trade routes, intensified anti-globalization situation, deteriorating geopolitical conflicts exert great pressure on maritime supply chain. The purpose of this paper is to explore how extend chain resilience from concept practice in Based development vision, constructs framework through literature review, which identified according strategic management procedure promote building deploy enterprise operational resources. structure theoretical industry includes goals, strategies, practices. We adopt hybrid AHP-QFD-DEMATEL method analyze most important factors each layer. It concluded that robustness adaptability are two strategy collaboration flexibility should be paid more attention era. This study enables SCRES a conceptual perspective practical narrows gap between theory practices study.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the vulnerabilities of global supply chains (SCs) and highlighted need for more resilient viable SCs. Panic-buying, in particular, has been a major challenge SCs as it can create sudden surges demand that are difficult to anticipate manage. However, literature lacks SC models strategies address panic-buying related challenges. As such, this research aims identify model recovery increase SC's agility, resilience, survivability reduce panic-buying's impact during large-scale disruption critical This study contributes by developing an integrated agent-based modeling (ABM) optimisation method simulate behaviour under different scenarios evaluating effectiveness four proposed three plans. findings reveal increasing production at decentralised manufacturing facilities be achieved order frequency multiple suppliers partnering with third-party transporters, which mitigate effects panic-buying. results higher output availability essential goods market, significantly managing Lastly, recommends practical solutions businesses enhance their SCs' responsiveness from

The integration of global supply chains allows for exchanging innovative ideas, knowledge, crafts, and technology across borders. However, it also poses a significant risk experiencing irregular disruptions. To address these concerns, resilient systems require technology-based solutions, such as blockchain. This comprehensive study involved conducting systematic literature review utilizing qualitative input-based DEMATEL methodology to identify the key enablers barriers blockchain-enabled chains. A total 11 12 were identified. panel 15 experts from various backgrounds was utilized provide input through online instrument. Based on results, transparency followed by trust collaboration top three crucial enablers, lack acceptance in industry, complexity, standardization chain. identified shared databases, smart contracts real-time information causal standardization, government support blockchain enabled further suggests practitioners policymakers prioritize promoting adoption BT ensure resilience launching awareness programs, world-class training employees, implementing favoring policies. provides critical insight suggesting that pillars promote inherently favor strategies/pillars (visibility, collaboration, traceability, management, security data sharing) hence, indicates would implicitly enhance resilience. concludes with limitations, future research directions conclusion.

With the service level playing an increasingly essential role in service-oriented manufacturing (SOM) supply chain, distribution network design can be heavily affected by customer behaviour based on their satisfaction of services. In this paper, we consider for time and delivery quantity separately. A novel mixed integer non-linear programming model is proposed to multi-period from a fourth-party logistics (4PL) perspective. The prospect theory maximised while considering investment budget level. scenario-based linear reformulation find optimal solution when problem scale small. For large-scale problem, propose individual-driven Q-learning memetic particle swarm optimisation algorithm. Numerical experiments are conducted demonstrate effectiveness efficiency Furthermore, impact modes, different behaviour, evaluation periods investigated. We that length leads differences due perceptions 'small loss' 'big gain' boundedly rational customers.
