Shorter product life cycles and the growing demand for mass customization have led to development of complex production systems, which are crucial maintaining competitiveness. In this context, digital technologies simulation tools play a fundamental role in integrating virtual physical systems enhance operational performance. This study presents prototype self-programming manufacturing achieved through integration computer management tools, leveraging Digital Twin (DT) concept. To validate approach, capable interacting with model was developed. event failure that compromises delivery conditions, is activated reprogram system’s operating parameters, ensuring compliance initial requirements minimizing impact disruptions. The tests confirmed effective data exchange between environments. Additionally, intentional failures were introduced real environment assess system behavior. This paper proposes a novel approach to the virtual 3D modeling of articulated mechanisms. It follows widespread use XML (eXtensible Markup Language) for various applications and defines version that is specially designed description geometric models bodies. Purpose With the accelerating pace of global digitalization, human–robot collaboration (HRC) has gained widespread acceptance across various industries. In contrast, construction sector faced criticism for adopting HRC at a slower pace, primarily due to sector’s inherent complexities. Given potential significantly mitigate persistent challenges in industry, there is an urgent necessity increased research this area. To fully unlock HRC’s potential, it essential integrate digital auxiliary technologies (DAT). identify promising avenues future research, study systematically reviews how DAT have enabled existing literature. Design/methodology/approach This follows PRISMA framework systematic literature review. A comprehensive search was conducted Scopus and Web Science databases, using Boolean operators combine subject terms (e.g. “human-robot collaboration”) keywords “robotics”) relevant from 2005 2024. The data analysis followed mixed-methods approach. First, quantitative mapped annual distribution articles reveal trends field, while VOSviewer used generate keyword co-occurrence network hotspots. Second, qualitative extracted mechanisms, strengths technological shortcomings advancing life cycle (planning design, production manufacturing, construction, operation maintenance). Findings review identified four core categories that enable construction: robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), 3D printing immersive (ImT). Content revealed these are integrated during planning maintenance phases, with minimal adoption demolition restoration phase. An integrative developed illustrate integrations highlight key gaps. Notably, three critical areas exploration were identified: (1) extending use phase, (2) establishing multi-interface integration (3) promoting fusion different DAT. Originality/value paper offers researchers practitioners perspective, demonstrating supports throughout emphasizing further development needs. The occupational health and safety of agricultural workers is a topic that has direct impact on the sector worldwide. For this reason, investigations into ergonomic factors are relevant to workers.
