Large yellow croaker is an economically important carnivorous marine aquaculture fish in China with high protein requirements. Current meal - based feeds face issues like cost and resource depletion, while plant sources have potential but also controversies. To explore this, a 120 day feeding trial was conducted standard commercial feed (CF) modified (PF) where 70% of replaced by protein. Results showed no significant growth performance differences between the two groups. Transcriptome analysis identified 557 308 differentially expressed genes liver intestine respectively. GO KEGG enrichment analyses indicated their association immune response, lipid metabolism, signal transduction. Five key related to metabolism regulation were found. These findings underscore integrating into diets, which could significantly enhance sustainable practices global reducing reliance on meal. Emphasizing this transition crucial for fostering environmental sustainability supporting future aquaculture.

A 60-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary Anabaena blue-green algae (ABGA) meal on growth performance, digestibility, and physio-metabolic responses Catla catla fingerlings (initial average weight 9.45 ± 0.15 g). Six iso-nitrogenous (30% crude protein) iso-caloric (378.09 Kcal. digestible energy/100 g) diets were formulated: a control diet (A0, 0% ABGA) five experimental with varying ABGA inclusion levels (A3: 3%, A6: 6%, A9: 9%, A12: 12%, A15: 15%). The results demonstrated that there no significant differences (P > 0.05) in percentage gain (PWG), specific rate (SGR), protein efficiency ratio (PER), feed conversion (FCR) among groups. Additionally, did not significantly affect body carcass composition different However, amylase activity decreased < A12 A15 fed groups, whereas lipase protease activities remained insignificant across all Notably, oxidative stress (SOD; superoxide dismutase CAT; catalase), carbohydrate metabolic enzymes (LDH; lactate dehydrogenase MDH; malate dehydrogenase), serum glucose increased higher inclusion. Conversely, albumin content ABGA-fed There observed total protein, albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine (ALT) Hematological parameters revealed RBC (red blood cell) count, hemoglobin (Hb) concentration, packed cell volume (PCV) 0.05), while WBC (white count In conclusion, up 15% impair nutrient utilization supported normal performance C. fingerlings. may have detrimental effect their growth, utilization, responses.
