Carbon nitrides are commonly employed as substrates to anchor single metal atoms. Numerous theoretical studies have previously characterized these single-atom systems using the pristine g-C3N4 structure, featuring a C6N7 motif. However, relatively large pores in may not effectively coordinate with cations, resulting discordance coordination environment determined by experimental characterization. In this study, we introduce novel model denoted CN-N4, which preserves essential motif, while offering four nitrogen sites for binding. Compared g-C3N4, binding affinity between and new substrate is significantly enhanced, similar that of studied nitrogen-doped graphene (N-gra). Additionally, assessed catalytic performance various reactions, including hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), carbon dioxide reduction (CO2RR), oxygen (ORR). The CN-N4-supported system exhibits activity comparable corresponding N-gra-supported species. Fe- Co-centered SACs can be promising catalysts ORR, stable Cu-g-C3N4 active HER CO2RR, consistent reported experiments. addition, V-CN-N4 Rh-CN-N4 predicted candidates catalyze respectively. We suggest CN-N4 aptly captures local structure nitride-based materials high number, providing an alternative foundation investigating mechanisms catalysts.
