Peri-implantitis is an inflammatory condition caused by bacterial biofilms adhered on dental implant surfaces that cause progressive tissue destruction from the host's response. The adverse effects of peri-implantitis progression can go beyond just losing implant. This highlights importance implementing strategies to stabilize disease in short term. Layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly a promising avenue field management due its applicability with variety substances, addition being easy, versatile, and flexible process for multilayer formation act directly affected site. In this Review, our objective offer comprehensive chemical biological insights into LbL system, clarifying specific application as antimicrobial coatings, concern physical site purpose. Additionally, we delve deeper concepts onset peri-implantitis, aiming elucidate precise indications employing system coating abutments treatment. Finally, correlate composition functionality while also addressing challenges posed uncontrolled environment oral cavity, which ultimately restricts clinical applicability.

Abstract Mimicking natural systems, self‐assembly has been employed for constructing highly stable and well‐ordered supramolecular structures. Amino acids are frequently used as building blocks in the process due to their advantageous characteristics including easy availability, functionalization, tunable mechanical property, biodegradability.
