Urban commercial streets are a crucial component of urban life, serving as the central hubs activity and providing vital spaces for both residents visitors to engage in various activities. Walkability is commonly used key indicator environmental quality, playing significant role improving residents’ health, community interaction, quality life. Therefore, promoting development high-quality walking environment districts fostering economic growth creation livable cities. However, existing studies predominantly focus on impact built walkability at scale, with limited attention given streets, particularly influence their physical features walking-need perceptions. In this study, we utilized Google Street-View Panorama (GSVP) images Tenjin district applied Semantic Differential (SD) method assess four perceptions visual perception, including usefulness, comfort, safety, attractiveness. Additionally, deep-learning-based semantic segmentation was employed extract calculate district. Correlation regression analysis were investigate these The results showed that different attractiveness > safety comfort usefulness. Furthermore, show there spatial distribution differences Safety perception more prominent primary roads, all secondary roads high level, tertiary have generally lower scores indicates walkable space landmark visibility index street cleanliness emerges most influential factor affecting greenness identified determinant while exerts greatest This study expands perspectives by focusing street-level proposes strategies enhance streets. These findings aim better meet pedestrian needs provide valuable insights future planning efforts.

The fragmented remodeling of historic districts undermines the spirit place. Understanding intricate relationship between neighborhood environment and place is essential for sustainable urban development. Current research predominantly relies on case studies concept place, which are subjective lack specific analysis how shapes In this study, we examine Chuancheng Street in Handan City as a study. Utilizing eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) model multi-source data, combined with SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) Partial Dependence Plots (PDP), analyze non-linear synergistic effects street districts. findings reveal that (1) proportion enduring sociability (PES) significantly cultural space elements being less prioritized perception; (2) PES, green vision index (GVI), Integration_800 m, mixed land use (MLU) have pronounced impacts strong threshold effects, these factors also demonstrate effect; (3) There notable spatial variations across different blocks, particularly influenced by authenticity heritage. This study provides fundamental insights into neighborhoods, enabling better understanding complex dynamics informing future regeneration from perspective.

The constant development of internet technology in the digital age has changed way people interact with space. To explore whether and what changes have occurred public's spatial perception street during shift from traditional to age, this paper compares characteristics two contexts through a classical theory review empirical coding analysis Xiaolouxiang historic district as an case. frameworks public are similar both contexts, focus on three dimensions objects, buildings spaces, activities. However, compared that context, context undergone new aspects: focusing three-dimensional experience space two-dimensional visual aesthetics space, emphasizing totality details, use cultural Research emphasizes that, within digitalization, design should place greater emphasis aesthetics, detail processing, expression better meet needs expectations public. This work identifies features urban digitalization accordingly provides suggestions for future findings study not only enrich foundational research content but also offer perspectives designers planners practice block renovation.

Cultural heritage conservation planning in China advocates for differentiated measures tailored to different elements with diverse values, functions, and locations. However, limited research has focused on the spatial heterogeneity of these multi-dimensional subjective well-being (SWB) residents within protected historic districts. This study investigates differentiation pattern mechanism residents’ SWB three Historic Conservation Areas Yangzhou, China, by employing a combination data digitization spatialization methods. The findings reveal: (1) All cases demonstrate notable terms SWB; (2) A common feature across is that strengthening community participation, tourism traffic control, housing improvement projects can significantly improve SWB. But proximity buildings little explanatory power (3) Planning factors accessibility, public facility park service areas, NIMBY areas toilets, have significant heterogeneous effects cases, which are closely correlated varying degrees development each district. this provide targeted strategies districts functional orientations duties, aimed at more effectively enhancing site utilizing resources.
