Cognitive frailty, the co-occurrence of physical frailty and cognitive impairment, has emerged as an essential factor affecting health-related quality life (HRQoL) among older adults; however, role social participation remains unknown. Our study aimed to explore mediating in association between HRQoL hospitalized adults. A total 467 adults were recruited from three tertiary hospitals Xi'an, China. was ascertained by FRAIL scale Montreal Assessment. Social assessed questionnaire that developed based on China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study. measured 36-item Short Form Survey. Bootstrap mediation effects employed estimate effect HRQoL. The average age participants 70.8 years 51.8% female. Individuals with had significantly lower levels (5.9 ± 3.7 vs. 7.8 4.1) (57.8 15.5 68.1 13.9) (physical component summary [PCS]: 52.4 19.0 66.0 16.7; mental [MCS]: 63.2 16.5 70.2 15.4) compared those without frailty. partially mediated (average causal [ACME] = -1.22, 95% confidence interval [CI]: - 2.20, -0.51) well its dimensions PCS (ACME -1.12, CI: 2.13, 0.55) MCS -1.29, 2.35, 0.49). Gender moderated HRQoL, which more pronounced women than men. findings suggest mediates particularly for women. This expands current literature designing policy solutions promote activities goal maintaining their at a favorable level.
