The present study explored the extraction of cellulose from forest residues four timber species, namely Cedrela montana Moritz ex Turcz, Buddleja incana Ruiz & Pav, Vallea stipularis L. f. and Myrsine andina (Mez) Pipoly, in high montane Chimborazo province, Ecuador, for sustainable utilization leaves, branches, flowers. An alkaline method was used on without need prior degreasing. ANOVA analysis applied to evaluate significant differences yields among species’ residues. characterization techniques were Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) polarized light optical microscopy, which confirmed successful with characteristics comparable standard cotton other traditional species. results showed variations yield f achieving highest 80.83%. crystallinity samples clearly evidenced by polarity during demonstrating that can be a viable source cellulose, contributing circular economy reducing environmental impact waste.
