Background Nutritional supplements (NS) can help patients by providing various nutrients such as essential vitamins and minerals, helping to prevent recover from diseases. This study provides a broad overview of the field NS for sick people through bibliometrics visualization analysis, analyze status development dynamics, explore popular research questions directions, reveal trends frontiers. Methods We searched Web Science Core Collection databases literature related diseased populations 2000 2024. A total 1,550 articles were included in analysis after screening. Analyses performed using CiteSpace VOSviewer software. Results The population has witnessed an overall rapid growth number publications, which is divided into three phases: 2000–2008 was exploratory phase, 2009–2017 sustained 2018 date phase. Research focuses on dietary supplementation, oxidative stress, vitro injections, development, antioxidant activity, double-blind trials, lipid supplements, functional foods, health populations, risks NS. Conclusion Different each possess unique benefits should be chosen according type disease ensure they contain corresponding nutrients. Vitamin are widely mentioned among patient across globe. Future may focus applying nutritional gut microbiota bioactive compounds. Researchers frequently mention application women, infants, children. It continue monitored optimized future enhance its therapeutic effects, thereby accelerating patients’ recovery improving their quality life.

There is increasing evidence supporting the use of morphofunctional assessment (MFA) as a tool for clinical characterization and decision-making in malnourished patients. MFA enables diagnosis malnutrition, sarcopenia, obesity, cachexia, leading to novel phenotype-based classification nutritional disorders. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIVA), ultrasound® (NU) computed tomography (CT) are included, along with functional tests like Timed Up Go test (TUG). Myoesteatosis, detectable via CT, can occur independently from phenotypes has been identified significant mortality predictor idiophatic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Our aim analyze prevalence overlap IPF evaluate prognostic value myoesteatosis. bicenter cross-sectional study included 82 patients (84.1% male medium age 71.1 ± 7.35 years). was performed using BIVA, NU, CT at T12 level (CT-T12), handgrip strength (HGS) test, TUG. CT-T12 BC parameters were analyzed FocusedON® software, while statistical analyses conducted JAMOVI version 2.3.22. All four major represented our cohort, overlap. A total 80.5% met GLIM criteria 14.6% had 17% sarcopenic, 28% obese. Of obese patients, 70% also malnourished, 100% sarcopenic (5.9% total) malnutrition. 55% available myosteatosis, suggesting muscle quality deterioration potential driver impairment. The presence myosteatosis > 15% T12-CT an independent 12-month (HR = 3.13; 95% CI: 1.01–9.70; p 0.049), survival rates 78.1% vs. 96.6% without respectively. To conclude, this underscores relevance IPF, demonstrating its identify specific associated impairment, myoesteatosis, thereby providing valuable decision-making.

Nutritional support has become a part of patient treatment. The nutritional content varies depending on the underlying disease in each patient. Malnutrition is defined as condition that arises due to inadequate or excessive nutrition. major contributor both morbidity and mortality, with its risk significantly heightened hospitalized patients. Early assessment patient's status timely appropriate treatment initiation can effectively reduce mortality rates. As malnutrition preventable, identifying at-risk patients providing adequate are essential components optimizing clinical outcomes. Therefore, this review summarizes approach some common diseases internal medicine practice. Our review's recommendations based guidelines from European Society for Clinical Nutrition Metabolism (ESPEN).

There are many health and nutrition implications of suffering from multimorbidity, which is a huge challenge facing social services. This review focuses on malnutrition, one the nutritional consequences multimorbidity. Malnutrition can result impact chronic conditions their management (polypharmacy) appetite intake, leading to an inability meet requirements food. (undernutrition) prevalent in primary care costly, main cause being disease, accentuated by multiple morbidities. Most costs arise deleterious effects malnutrition individual's function, clinical outcome recovery substantially greater burden treatment resources, costing at least £19·6 billion England. Routine identification with screening should be part multimorbidity together practical, effective ways treating that overcome anorexia where relevant. Nutritional interventions improve intake have been shown significantly reduce mortality individuals multimorbidities. In addition food-based interventions, more 'medicalised' dietary approach using liquid oral supplements (ONS) effective. ONS typically little appetite, effectively energy, protein micronutrient intakes may functional measures. Reduced intervention improved outcomes (fewer infections, wounds), reducing use costs. With right investment dietetic appropriate plans put place optimally support multimorbid patient benefitting individual wider society.

Background: Several factors can affect overall survival of head and neck cancer (HNC) patients, including characteristics the disease response to treatments. However, patients’ nutritional status effectiveness medical nutrition therapy (MNT) also impact survival. The primary goal our research was collect real-life data on use MNT in HNC patients specifically investigate correlation between duration uninterrupted (persistent) nutrition. Method: this retrospective, analytical, cohort study collected from electronic healthcare records Hungarian National Health Insurance Fund Management. Overall, 38,675 period 2012 2021 used. We applied multi-step exclusions identify patient groups accurately avoid biasing factors. Statistical analysis done by Kaplan-Meier method, log-rank test, Cox regression analysis. Results: Throughout investigated 16,871 (64%) received out 26,253 newly diagnosed (≥18 years). In terms persistence MNT, we divided into three (1–3; 4–6; ≥7-month MNT). When comparing these groups, found that receiving long-term (≥7 months) had a significantly longer ( p < 0.0001) than those who for shorter duration, both locally advanced recurrent/metastatic cases. Conclusion: main outcome is there positive when intervention lasts several months. It highlights responsibility specialists during journey early continue its as long it beneficial patients.
