Due to the ageing population and evolving lifestyles occurring in China, middle-aged elderly populations have become high-risk groups for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The aim of this study was analyse incidence characteristics CVD these develop a prediction model by using data from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). We used follow-up CHARLS Chinese over time span 9 years. Five machine learning (ML) algorithms were employed risk prediction. Data preprocessing included missing value imputation via random forest. Feature selection performed Least Absolute Shrinkage Selection Operator (Lasso CV) method with cross-validation prior training. application synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE) address class imbalance. Model performance evaluated analyses including area under ROC curve (AUC), precision, recall, F1 score, SHAP plots interpretability. In accordance exclusion criteria, 12,580, 12,061, 11,545, 11,619 participants enrolled four rounds. cumulative (CI) at 2, 4, 7, years 2.846%, 8.971%, 17.869% 20.518%,, respectively. Significant differences observed across gender, age, ethnicity, region, higher rates females northeast region. Ultimately, 8,080 24 features analysed ML models built based on features. Although LGB achieves an AUC 0.818, indicating strong overall performance, its score recall rate are relatively low, 0.509 43.1%, Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) revealed importance key features, such as night sleep duration, TG levels, waist circumference, predicting outcomes, highlighted nonlinear relationships between risk. Objective Insulin-like growth factor (IGF) is closely associated with sarcopenia, yet the causal relationship of this association remains unclear. This study aims to explore potential between members IGF family and sarcopenia from a genetic perspective through bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis using two-sample datasets. Methods Five genetically predicted factors (IGF-1, IGF-1R, IGF-2R, IGFBP-3, IGFBP-7) as one sample, while four relevant features (low hand grip strength, appendicular lean mass, whole body fat-free walking pace) another in conducting MR analysis. Results The forward results showed that elevated levels IGF-1 reduced risk low strength (OR = 0.936, 95% CI=0.892-0.983, P 0.008) increased mass extremities 1.125, CI=1.070-1.182,P 0.000; OR =1.076, CI=1.047-1.106, P=0.000), sarcopenia. Elevated IGF-1R also favored an increase (OR=1.023, CI=1.008-1.038, =0.002), trait was more pronounced IGFBP-3 IGFBP-7 (OR=1.034, CI=1.024-1.044, =0.000; OR=1.020, CI=1.010-1.030, P=0.000). ABSTRACT Sarcopenia is a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in individuals with diabetes or prediabetes, but the impact of changes sarcopenia status on CVD remains unclear. This study aimed to examine how between baseline and second follow‐up survey, conducted 2 years later, influence developing incident CVD. Incident was identified based self‐reported physician diagnoses heart disease, such as angina, myocardial infarction, failure, stroke. Cox proportional hazard models were used estimate ratios (HRs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs), adjusting potential confounders. The results showed that participants who progressed from non‐sarcopenia possible had higher Their significantly greater compared those remained non‐sarcopenic (HR 1.37, CI 1.08–1.73). Conversely, recovered lower than sarcopenic 0.40, 0.20–0.82). Among at baseline, reduced risk. reduction significant 0.62, 0.46–0.84). These findings suggest have risk, worsening increasing likelihood recovery lowering prediabetes.

Introduction: Overweight and obesity are major public health concerns, often leading to increased cardiovascular risk. Methods: This eight-week interventional study examined whether regular consumption of two natural bilberry products could improve body composition lipid profiles in overweight/obese women. A total 30 participants (aged 50–60 years) were assigned consume either 125 mL/day 100% juice or 10 g/day fibre, while maintaining their habitual diets lifestyles. Results: Although no significant changes found anthropometric parameters blood pressure group, both interventions reduced low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) high-density (HDL-C). Surprisingly, (TC) levels rose the group (from 6.41 ± 1.23 mmol/L 6.94 1.30 (p < 0.001)), fibre 6.06 1.39 6.43 1.05 = 0.046)), likely due elevated HDL-C 0.001) overshadowing drop LDL-C 0.05). Triglyceride (TG) did not change significantly still within reference range. Conclusions: Notably, experienced a reduction atherogenic small dense LDL (sdLDL) subfractions, suggesting favourable shift risk factors. These findings highlight potential bilberry-based as supportive strategy for improving

Abstract Background: Individuals with chronic diseases are at higher risk of sarcopenia, and precise prediction is essential for its prevention. This study aims to develop a scoring model using longitudinal data predict the probability sarcopenia in this population over next 3 5 years, thereby enabling early warning intervention. Methods: Using from nationwide survey initiated 2011, we selected patient records wave 1 (2011–2012) follow-up (2015–2016) as cohort. Retrospective collection included demographic information, health conditions, biochemical markers. After excluding missing values, total 2,891 adults conditions were enrolled. Sarcopenia was assessed based on Asian Working Group (AWGS) 2019 guidelines. A generalized linear mixed (GLMM) random effects diverse machine learning models utilized explore feature contributions risk. The Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) algorithm employed optimize full Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) an online application tool. Results: Among population, 580 (20.1%) individuals diagnosed (2011-2012), 638 (22.1%) (2015-2016), while 2,165 (74.9%) not across period. MLP model, performed better than other three classic models, demonstrated ROC AUC 0.912, PR 0.401, sensitivity 0.875, specificity 0.844, Kappa value 0.376, F1 score 0.44. According SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) scoring, weight, age, BMI, height, cholesterol, PEF, gender identified most important features disease individualsfor sarcopenia.
