Anaerobic digestion (AD) is an effective technology for the sustainable management of organic agricultural waste, producing both biogas and nutrient-rich digestate. This study aims to review evaluate different methods obtaining valuable products from digestate, with a focus on innovative approaches. The main objectives are identify technologies recovery nutrients matter, assess their environmental economic impact outline challenges prospects in this area. covers established techniques (with readiness level (TRL) six nine, indicating maturity pilot full scale) such as struvite precipitation ammonia stripping, which very recovering nitrogen phosphorus digestate converting it into biofertilizers. Struvite, example, offers option slow-release fertilizers that reduces dependence synthetic fertilizers. A comparative analysis shows stripping can efficiently capture produce fertilizer without harming environment. New methods, microalgae cultivation, use nutrient source production biofuels bioplastics, contributing renewable energy material production. also examines composting vermicomposting, where converted soil conditioners significantly improve health fertility. biochar through pyrolysis highlighted its benefits improving properties sequestering carbon, providing dual benefit waste climate change mitigation. Membrane technologies, including ultrafiltration (UF) reverse osmosis (RO), being investigated effectiveness recovery, despite membrane fouling high operating costs. highlights potential these valorization processes sustainability viability AD systems align circular economy principles. results suggest continuous optimization integration recycling crucial overcome existing realize potential.
