The extraction processes for medicinal plants, particularly the distillation of aromatic generate significant quantities by-products, consisting fibrous biomass and hydrosols. These by-products pose challenges disposal recovery. Consequently, it is imperative to make entire highly energy-intensive process more sustainable by valorizing all derivatives. This study aims recover polyphenols from exhausted biomasses Artemisia dracunculus, Echinacea purpurea, Helichrysum italicum (from Asteraceae family), Lavandula angustifolia, × intermedia, Melissa officinalis, Salvia sclarea, rosmarinus Lamiaceae family) after steam distillation. residual were extracted using ethanol (conventional solvent) different natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) composed choline chloride in combination with citric lactic acids at molar ratios. NADES containing acid ratio 1:1 (CLA11) exhibited highest recovery representative phenols namely chicoric rosmarinic acids. CLA11 solvent demonstrated a stronger extractive capacity compared belonging families. Specifically, extracts showed higher number compounds UHPLC-HRMS greater concentrations determined HPLC-DAD than extracts. In conclusion, be viable alternative system bioactive that could used formulate new products food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic industries. Moreover, use can enhance sustainability whole production chain essential oils being environmentally friendly.
