ABSTRACT The development of aerospace industry advances the design and preparation high‐performance flexible ablation‐resistant thermal insulation materials. In this work, a simultaneous improvement ablative erosion resistance, insulation, char quality epoxy modified vinyl silicone rubber (EMVSR)‐based composites was achieved by adding small amount titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ). results showed that TiO acted as heat shielding agent reflecting dissipated catalyzing graphitization well reinforcing layer through co‐caramelization reaction. linear ablation rate back‐face temperature EMVSR with 5 phr were reduced 21.5% 16.1% when compared control sample (without ) at flux 4 MW/m . Moreover, emissivity, surface temperature, densification improved This work provided facile method to develop materials for protection purposes in fire sectors among others.
