Melanogenesis and melanin deposition are processes essential for the effective immune response of insects to various invaders. Phenoloxidase (PO), produced in specialized cells as an inactive precursor prophenoloxidase (proPO), is key enzyme formation. The activated via limited proteolysis by a dedicated serine proteinase, which final element cascade proteinases (SPs) that make up PO system. provides different cytotoxic molecules active fighting infections, well melanin, important sequestration However, since reactive compounds generated during melanization also pose threat host cells, strict control system necessary self-protection. Different pathogens parasites influence through strategies, allow them survive develop insect body. In this review, we characterize “the lights shadows” activation, indicating, on one hand, its advantages efficient mechanism and, other dangers associated with improper functioning selected strategies regulating activity entomopathogenic organisms.

ABSTRACT Farmed insects have gained attention as an alternative, sustainable source of protein with a lower carbon footprint than traditional livestock. We present high‐quality reference genome for one the most commonly farmed insects, banded cricket Gryllodes sigillatus . In addition to its agricultural importance, G. is also model in behavioural and evolutionary ecology research on reproduction mating systems. report comparative genomic analyses that clarify cricket's history, identify gene family expansions contractions unique this lineage, associate these agriculturally important traits, targets genome‐assisted breeding efforts. The assembly plus accompanying serve foundational resources both applied basic insect farming biology, enabling researchers pinpoint trait‐associated genetic variants, unravel functional pathways governing those phenotypes, accelerate selective efforts increase efficacy large‐scale operations.

Abstract Background Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects approximately 8% of the US population, with varying susceptibility among individuals exposed to trauma. While genetic factors contribute PTSD risk, emerging evidence suggests that epigenetic mechanisms play a crucial role in translating environmental exposures into lasting neurobiological changes. Purpose This review provides comprehensive analysis cutting-edge research on PTSD, particular emphasis novel findings regarding resilience and mechanisms. We explore recent technological advances their applications understanding pathophysiology. Main body Advanced epigenomic approaches have revealed complex interactions between DNA methylation, histone modifications, non-coding RNAs PTSD. Novel highlight cell type-specific signatures temporal dynamics following trauma exposure. Single-cell studies identified previously unknown cellular heterogeneity responses. Recent data modifications not only influence individual but may also transgenerational transmission effects. Integrative multi-omics new insights molecular networks underlying vulnerability. Conclusion unprecedented complexity These open avenues for personalized interventions based profiles suggest therapeutic strategies targeting modifications. enhanced has significant implications risk assessment, prevention, treatment.
