Asphalt pavement, widely utilized in transportation infrastructure due to its favourable properties, faces significant degradation from chloride salt erosion coastal areas and winter deicing regions. In this study, two commonly used asphalt binders, 70# base SBS (Styrene–Butadiene–Styrene)-modified asphalt, were study the effect on pavement by immersing materials laboratory-prepared solutions. The conventional properties adhesion of assessed using penetration, softening point, ductility, pull-off tests, while Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) elucidated mechanism. Marshall stability test, freeze–thaw splitting Cantabro test applied effects exposure strength, water stability, structural integrity mixture. Finally, grey correlation analysis was employed assess impact performance binders mixtures. findings highlight that reduces penetration ductility both types raises weakens asphalt–aggregate adhesion, confirmed as a primarily physical FTIR analysis. mixtures showed decreased strength intensifying these impacts at higher concentrations longer duration. SBS-modified exhibited greater resistance erosion, particularly demonstrated pull-out tests. Grey relational revealed duration is most influential factor, with TSR point emerging responsive indicators chloride-induced changes. These offer critical insights for practice, providing evidence-based guidance designing constructing pavements environments high levels.
