Soil–bentonite (SB) vertical cut-off walls are widely utilized to mitigate the transport of soil contaminants in groundwater. Evaluating their long-term service performance is crucial for ensuring environmental safety and effective pollution control. The evaluation model contaminant considers key processes such as convection, diffusion, dispersion, adsorption. These closely linked physicochemical properties walls, which influenced by surrounding complex environment, ultimately impacting performance. This study delves into SB walls. It focuses on factors that influence this measures can enhance it. Moreover, it offers a detailed analysis how seepage soil–bentonite materials evolves under various influences. influences include chemical exposure, freeze–thaw cycles, dry–wet cycles. Additionally, outlines existing methods identifies shortcomings. By leveraging advantages situ testing methods, paper proposes establishment comprehensive system based test parameters. proposed aims provide scientific assessment
