Electrolytic
Manganese
Residue
(EMR)
is
a
secondary
material
generated
during
the
process
of
manganese
production,
poses
significant
environmental
challenges,
including
land
consumption
and
contamination
threats
to
soil
water
bodies
due
its
heavy
metal
content,
soluble
manganese,
ammonia
nitrogen,
disposal
issues.
This
review
thoroughly
examines
EMR,
emphasizing
metallurgical
principles,
impacts,
sustainable
treatment
methods.
We
critically
analyze
various
approaches
for
EMR
management,
resource
recovery,
utilization
construction
materials,
advanced
techniques
mitigate
challenges.
Through
an
extensive
recent
EMR-related
literature
case
studies,
we
highlight
innovative
strategies
valorization,
such
as
extraction
valuable
metals,
conversion
into
supplementary
cementitious
application
in
remediation.
Our
findings
suggest
that
integrating
principles
with
engineering
practices
can
unlock
EMR’s
potential
resource,
contributing
circular
economy
reducing
hazards
associated
disposal.

In

to
promote
the
virtuous
