The widespread disposal of single-use masks has led to significant environmental concerns. This study investigated the effects incorporating shredded waste mask fibers (SWMFs) on compressive and flexural properties concrete. experimental design included four fiber volume fractions, i.e., 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, with three different sizes fibers. influences these load-bearing capacity, deformation behavior, energy absorption concrete under compression flexure was examined. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) used analyze microstructure. results show that addition 1% SWMFs enhances mechanical performance, strengths 20.69 MPa 6.95 MPa, respectively, for B-sized Furthermore, incorporation discarded improved toughness material. In general strength requirements, a B-dimensional can be incorporated, which improve bending by 75% control group.

Abstract The rapid growth of transportation engineering has led to significant environmental challenges due the accumulation building waste and tailings. A promising solution is utilize these materials develop high-performance tailings recycled concrete (RFAC) for highway construction, promoting a green circular economy. This study advances existing research by exploring innovative mix design strategies performance optimization techniques enhance RFAC’s mechanical properties industrial applicability. Specifically, this investigates effects various iron admixtures on behavior deformation characteristics RFAC before after carbonation, aiming establish an optimal composition infrastructure. used include tailings, coarse aggregate, natural river sand, 42.5-grade ordinary silicate cement. Unlike conventional approaches, emphasizes influence particle morphology surface laboratory-produced fine revealing its angular shape, rough texture, larger specific area, which significantly impact fluidity, bulk density, crushing value. Experimental results demonstrate that fiber type admixture ratio play crucial role in improving slump, compressive strength, split tensile failure modes. Compared previous studies, provides more refined analysis proportioning introduces tailings-based enhancements, offering new insights large-scale applications engineering. By optimizing incorporation aggregate proportions, establishes systematic approach performance, durability, construction adaptability, laying foundation sustainable infrastructure development.
